A Dream That Wouldn’t Come True – Dragonflies Vision

Have you ever been to a real life scene with thousands of dragonflies buzzing around? Or have you ever imagined seeing thousands of dragonflies flitting around your computer screen while you are playing World of Warcraft? I bet that, even if you have never seen dragonflies up close, you have a vague idea about what the color might look like. When we talk about dragonflies, most people think about the large and beautiful Asian dragonflies that stare at us from the bank of the Amazon River in Brazil.

Although it is hard to imagine, if you spend a little more time in the rainforests of South America or the Amazonian jungles, you will likely come across dragonflies. In fact, if you do not have a very clear memory about how you came to be seeing them, you might remember seeing them while out on a camping trip when you lived in the country. One time, we happened to be in a small town located near a waterfall. We had heard about this magical place called the Dragon’s Tears and decided to visit there for some fun. It was a fun experience, as it occurred to us as we were on a mission to document the sights of a rainforest without actually seeing one.

From our perspective we saw many thousands of dragonflies darting around the waterfall. My husband and I were fascinated by this sight and we spent the next few days photographing this amazing phenomenon. In addition to being a great hobby, this photography has also led us to a deeper understanding about the dragonflies themselves. This story has inspired us to start a website about dragonflies, so that anyone who has an interest in the subject can find out a little more about their lives and their behavior.
